What does new handball lining mean for my gym?

With our service sports floor lining we support sports halls and clubs in these adjustments. We help think through a new lineation plan, install new lineation and repaint or remove old lineation. This ensures proper execution and a safe sports floor that meets NHV requirements.

What is changing in the handball game rules?

The International Handball Federation (IHF) has announced a number of rule changes in 2022. One important change is the introduction of the initial throwing area with a diameter of 4 meters. This rule was first applied in the Super Handball League Men and has since been extended to several divisions.
Experience has been positive: the game has become faster and more attractive. Therefore, the Dutch Handball Association (NHV) has decided to introduce this rule at all levels from the 2026-2027 season. This means that the 4-meter starting throw-in area will soon also be compulsory in the lower divisions, youth leagues and grassroots sports.

The coaching zone

In addition to the starting throwing area, there will be a clear delineation of the coaching zone:

• the zone starts 3.5 meters from the center line
• and runs to 8 meters from the back line
• the end of the zone is marked with a line 50 cm long and 5 cm wide, connecting to the sideline
